About

Architect Eldad Greenfield (BSc., BArch) has expertise in a range of fields dealing with heritage site conservation and historic monuments.

With more than seven years’ experience working for the Israel Antiquities Authority, Eldad has a strong practical understanding of both ancient artifacts and historical heritage. He conserves historic monuments in accordance with current conservation practices, striving to understand their cultural significance to the fullest extent possible. His extensive conservation experience ranges from Bronze Age remains and Roman and Byzantine structures to modern Brutalist and Bauhaus buildings.

With a master’s degree in urban planning and design from Tel Aviv University, Eldad always considers the urban context when dealing with heritage. Historical monuments are part of the modern architectural fabric. By identifying heritage’s contribution to the local and regional context, the urban structure can become stronger and more resilient. Eldad’s thesis deals with questions of preserving archaeological sites within vibrant urban fabrics.

A wide range of services dealing with heritage conservation is offered: physical surveys, historical research, and recording and documentation of historical buildings, monuments, and urban and rural districts, among others.

We also provide professional guidance for architects and institutions seeking to intervene in and rehabilitate historical buildings.

We believe in close collaboration with all project stakeholders to achieve the most suitable solution for both the site and the client. Sharing information and knowledge between project partners is a key part of our approach. As a rule, we extend the scope of our work beyond the boundaries of the project to achieve our objectives at the highest quality.

Understanding a site’s context together with its heritage values helps us reveal its future potential. We start by analyzing the site and any existing property, which then informs our initial feasibility sketches and layout options. We sometimes use models to test out concepts and give preliminary thoughts on materials and elevations. All of this is collated into a single document for you to review and respond to.
